I love this case, I have it in aqua and my kids have it in orange. It stands up to the kids' abuse, it wipes clean easily, and unlike in some of the pictures, you CAN see the illuminated apple on your laptop through the case. I recommend it! You can protect and personalize your Mac a bit while still showing off that you have a Mac. ;o)

Speck Products was founded in 2001 and have primarily focused on building cases and accessories for Apple products, though they've ventured out to include cases for some other smartphones, tablets and eReaders. The SeeThru Satin case is a form-fitting, two-piece case, like the kind you'd buy for an iPhone. Does it work as well on a lapotp, as it does on a phone?PROS:- Good protection against dings and scratches- Easy to install- Attractive appearance- Satin coating is soft and easy to gripCONS:- May hinder the use of a laptop lockMost case companies don't bother making form-fitting cases for laptops because PC laptops come in so many different shapes and sizes; it just wouldn't make sense. For those laptops, padded sleeves are the best solutions for protection outside of a laptop bag. MacBooks on the other hand, usually maintain their design and dimensions long enough for it to be worth making a snap-on case for them. That gives MacBook users an option that most PC users don't have--a permanent protective case around their laptop.INSTALLATIONInstalling the hardshell SeeThru Satin case couldn't be simpler. Just line up the top part to the MacBook Pro lid and snap it on, then repeat for the bottom.Figuring out the best way to remove it is a little tricky at first, but gets easier after doing it a couple of times. Basically, you just push the tabs off the edges and gently pull away the covers. And you'll want to know how to remove it, because Speck recommends taking it off about once a month to clean out any debris and dust that may have built up inside the case.USAGEUsing the the SeeThru Satin case is really a pleasure because it's like not having a case at all. It doesn't get in the way of using it on a day-to-day basis. All the ports are accessible, while your beautiful MacBook Pro is protected from dings and scratches. It doesn't add too much bulk, but with the case on, my MacBook Pro wouldn't fit inside a laptop sleeve that fit easily without the case.It also has a vent on the bottom piece, allowing proper ventilation of your MacBook Pro. The rubber feet also keep your MBP gripped securely to your desk.The only drawback to the SeeThru Satin case applies to people that use laptop locks. When I tried to insert my Kensington laptop lock onto the MacBook Pro, the lock pushed up against the top piece of the case and popped that portion of the case off of the MBP. It's still usable and some locks may not interfere with the case, but I didn't have any other locks to test with.CONCLUSIONThe Speck Products SeeThru Satin case is the perfect case for those who don't want to fumble with a sleeve and prefer a permanent protective solution. Design touches like the rubber, non-skid feet and ventilation, add to the appeal of the case. The finish is soft, easy to hold, and attractive. The pictures above of the case make it seem as if the case was a light smooth purple color but it is not. I knew this since I had seen the case in person on a friends macbook pro. The true color of the case is a really dark, dark purple. Even in direct sunlight it still looks like a dark purple. I love the color but just letting people know before they buy the case thinking its a soft light purple. Its a soft case on the outside but its sturdy plastic on the inside. The case can easily get scratched but thats what its for, right? to protect your macbook. Anyways, it looks cool and doesnt add weight or size to the mac. Still looks pretty compact. Im glad I purchased this case. My one and only negative would be that the box the case came in was kinda dusty and made the case look like it was old and used, even though it was new. It has vents on the bottom and the apple logo is still clearly visible through the case when the computer is on. The instructions say you need to remove the whole case once a month and clean it so the dirt that gets inside wont scratch up your mac. Thats pretty much it. Just be wary of the actual color. The same can be said for the other speck satin cases. The colors for the red, green and orange all look soft and light but theyre all darker.. Ive seen these colors in person as well. Hope this helps.
